The role of the membership committee is to welcome potential members to the club, solicit new members, and encourage volunteerism. The committee will issue a new member welcome letter, introduce new members at club meeting (subsequent to application), and provide club-related information. Members will staff the check-in table for monthly club meetings and support a membership table at select events.
Specific duties include:
- Staff check-in table – check in all attendees, provide potential members with club application, and track first time guests who do not wish to join at that time.
- Collect membership payment. Annual renewal is January 1st each year.
- Ensure the Club Treasurer receives all cash and checks from new and renewing members after each member meeting.
- Contact members that are past due on membership payments to ensure they become up to date.
- Keep member roster up to date with member attendance, payments, and contact information.
- Introduce new members at the next meeting.
- Staff member information table at club-based events and functions.
- Follow up with non-attending members and relay any issues or problems to the Board.
Qualifications of a membership committee member include the following:
- Experienced working with Excel spreadsheets/workbooks.
- Proficient at record keeping.
- Affable and friendly in approaching others.
- Express enthusiasm about the club and its activities.
- Be very accepting of all people and keen to developing a diverse member base.
